The path that got me
here
At BYU, I ended up as the program director of the university's volunteer tutoring program. That meant I wasn't just tutoring anymore. I was overseeing and training more than 200 tutors, and I helped teach a class whose entire purpose was teaching tutors how to teach. That is a strange and wonderful thing to spend your time on. You stop thinking about the material and start thinking about the human being in front of you and how their brain is actually taking the information in. Why does one explanation land and another one bounce off? How do you find the exact sentence that makes a confusing idea feel obvious? I got a little obsessed with that question, and I have never really stopped.
After college, I taught high school math and physics. Real classrooms, real teenagers, real "I don't get it, can you say it another way" moments, every single day. That is where you learn to explain things ten different ways until one of them works, because in a room full of students, one explanation is never enough.
Add it all up and it's more than ten years of teaching and well over 1,000 students. Every one of them taught me something about how learning actually happens.
My own ACT story (I was not a natural)

more than 30 times.
I score in the 99th percentile, and at this point the test is second nature to me. I can see a question and know what it's testing and what it wants before I finish reading it. That is not because I was born gifted. It's because I climbed the exact hill your student is standing at the bottom of right now, and l mapped every step of the way up. That's what I teach. Not a fatter book. The actual path.
Why I keep it affordable
I could charge a lot more than I do. National prep companies have asked me to come teach
their courses, and I said no. I want to be honest about why.
When I was in high school, the good ACT courses cost $500 to $1,000. That was completely
out of reach for me and my family. So I sat there watching other kids get access to expert
help I simply could not afford, and I taught myself instead. I never forgot how that felt.
I don't believe great ACT prep should be gatekept behind a price tag. A test this important
should not come with a velvet rope in front of it. That is exactly why my full course is $300,
not $1,000, and why I'd rather run my own thing my own way than put a big company's logo
on it and quadruple the price. The help should reach the kid who needs it, not just the kid
who can pay for it.

much to me
A good ACT score changes lives. Mine won me a full-tuition scholarship, and I walked out of college with a degree and zero debt. Sit with that for a second. A few points on one test decided whether I would start my adult life free and clear or start it buried. That is not a small thing. That is the difference between two completely different futures.
